Empower yourself to be in action at your house, apartment or community garden.
Eat Locally.

Imagine walking out of your back door to harvest some greens, oregano, chives and dill and then get the eggs out of the coop for a garden breakfast. Or maybe you harvest tomatoes, peppers and basil to make a fresh salsa of pasta sauce. The cost of organic food is on the rise. Nutrition in organic food from the grocery has nothing on freshly harvested food from your garden. Treat yourself, connect to your food, and have fun doing it!

This two day workshop will walk you through Austin's unique growing seasons and how to best plan the kitchen garden for the seasons. Learn about Austin soils, sun, wise water practices, integrated pest management, choosing the right varieties of plants, and how to tie all of the pieces together to create a beautiful kitchen garden.
