Gretchen Phillips

"Gretchen's dulcet vocals and Gibson SG virtuosity"  Austin Chronicle
"Her original songs display songwriting skill that's both frisky and earnest."  Casey DeHoedt, Athens Exchange

Raised on protest songs, Gretchen started doing music in earnest 36 years ago at age 12.  She was a member of three influential bands in the mid 1980's, Meat Joy, Girls in the Nose, and Two Nice Girls, and she was inducted into Austin Chronicle Music Poll's Hall of Fame in 2001.  Weaving her songs with reading from her memoirs and ruminations about current events, Gretchen's concerts are a way to convey ideas not just a personal narrative. She wants us to think about kindness as the real revolution that will actually make a long lasting difference.

Casa Neverlandia
If Peter Pan owned a home and hired Dr. Seuss as the interior decorator, it would look like the candy colored funhouse that is Casa Neverlandia.  This South Austin home and artist studio is a wonderland bursting with colorful Gaudi inspired mosaics, Hobbit-Moroccan flavored sculpted furniture, talking tubes, a 40 foot observation tower, a banana colored kitchen, a Las Vegas inspired bedroom and a Tahitian ping pong parlor.  Over the past 30 years, hands on artist, designer, builders James Talbot and Kay Pils transformed their South Austin bungalow into a three story chalet largely with material salvaged from demolition sites.
Casa Neverlandia is featured as one of the greenest homes in the world at
