GARDEN: Learn how to plant and maintain your own herb garden with tips and tricks from Sam Thorp of Johnson's Backyard Garden. Put your new skills to the test and get your hands dirty planting Contigo's herb garden.

EAT: Enjoy a casual lunch prepared by Executive Chef, Andrew Wiseheart, and students from the Culinary program at Travis High.


The solar oven is sort of like a crock pot that needs no electricity! You can slow-cook all sorts of dishes in it -- meat, fish, vegetables, rice. You can also bake cookies and bread. But the solar oven is good for more than cooking. You can use it to pasteurize water. You only need to heat the water to 65 C (149 F) for 15-20 minutes in order to kill pathogens. And you can use the solar oven to sterilize tools, washcloths, and other small items.

5M Farmer Charles Winningham (who also happens to be a chef at the W Hotel) has invited you to join him this Saturday at 11am to share coleslaw recipes in the kitchen.  If you're not up for cooking, but up for tasting, then come at 1pm and see how everyone did!  If Monday's practice session was any indication, the broccoli greens and cabbage-based slaws that were shared will continue to amaze!!
