In July 2005, Elizabeth Kubala and Selwyn Polit designed the space for the Windsor Park Community Gardens using Permaculture Principles.
We planted about 20 fruit trees, built a shed, an arbor, groups (pods) of raised beds for rental and implemented a buried irrigation system. We have a small but thriving community of gardeners and supporters. The gardens are located behind the Mennonite church in East Austin at 5801 Westminster Drive. The land is approximately 1 acre in size (about 200 feet by 200 feet) so we have plenty of room for you to come play. We'd love to have more art and more gardeners.
4-20-2009: Nicole emailed to say that our project is on the home page of the Open Architecture Network website. I didn't realize what a big deal it was until Mohan pointed out that the other seven projects on the home page are from all over the WORLD. What an honor. Congratulations to Nicole.

Dues are $20 annually. Membership will allow you to vote on decisions affecting the garden, as well as allowing you to contribute to our plans for a pond, orchard, apiary (beekeeping), and other projects.
If you are interested in leasing a 4’ x 10’ raised bed the cost is $40 annually ($20 membership dues + $20 bed rental). If price is an issue, we have some folks that are willing to sponsor or split the costs.
All members must contribute one hour per month in volunteer labor to the garden.
