Bright Sky Reteaches Four day MEGA-EVENT Permaculture Voices in 99 minutes.

Most of the core commonly cited authors of Permaculture Design Course curriculum gathered before the full moon just before spring,  and spoke to an unusually educated and engaged audience.

A sharing of feedback. A sharing of food (yes, we're integrating  potluck. [Pot-luck: a suggestion that gifting food and drinks and stories creates value beyond the initial investment]) A sharing of hearts and music and microbes.

Hear Bright Sky reteach proportionally the input of 27.5 hours of attended talks compressed into 99 minutes. This translate to:

• Ecological Literacy Volunteer Day – Help maintain Hornsby Bend! Did you know that all the Hornsby Bend trails, habitat gardens, and kiosks were built and are maintained by volunteers? If you enjoy birding or walking along the Colorado River here, please join us in maintaining these amenities and supporting public access at Hornsby Bend.
• We do three hours work and one hour of learning about the ecology of the Colorado River and Hornsby Bend - Wear work-clothes and work-shoes; bring water and binoculars if interested in birds.

Community Garden Potluck and Film

The 5604 Manor Community Garden is located in the backyard of the 5604 Manor community center which is home to the non profits Workers Defense Project, Cooperation Texas, and Third Coast Activist Resource Center. We have regular work days every Saturday morning from 9am-12pm. We have a community operated garden and no individual plots. All volunteers get to take home produce and have a voice in how we make decisions.

We are sponsoring our first free Dinner and a Movie night on Thursday May 23rd from 7-10pm.

Peace Sunday at Human Potential Center

PEACE SUNDAY. 1 - 3 pm. In an effort to improve the peaceful conditions in the world, we host a monthly quiet meditation, where all beliefs and religious traditions are honored. Following the meditation, participants are welcome to join in a potluck brunch and share camaraderie and croissants. Ages 14 and up. Free.

Slideluck Potshow

For three years Austin has been throwing an annual potluck to remember. On February 4th, the good people of Austin will cook up their favorite dishes and gather to share their recipes and photographs with each other once again!  The evening begins with a couple hours of mingling and dining on the home-cooked delights of those who attend, and then the lights are dimmed, the crowd is hushed, and a spectacular slideshow commences.

Bread for the Journey

A simple relationship-based philanthropy, Bread for the Journey gives small seed grants to people who are involved in positive change within the community. Referred to as "engaged spirituality" by its founder Wayne Mueller, it is a way to help those who help others.  Mueller, an ordained minister, therapist and author in New Mexico, started the first chapter with a small group of average citizens who felt called by their concern for their community.

Instructions: 

Please bring a dish that serves approximately 6-8 people. As usual, we encourage you to bring your own plates, cups and utensils, but our hosts will provide as well. They will also provide water, soft drinks and wine to drink. There are no food or beverage restrictions.
