The 5604 Manor Community Garden is located in the backyard of the 5604 Manor community center which is home to the non profits Workers Defense Project, Cooperation Texas, and Third Coast Activist Resource Center. We have regular work days every Saturday morning from 9am-12pm. We have a community operated garden and no individual plots. All volunteers get to take home produce and have a voice in how we make decisions.

We are sponsoring our first free Dinner and a Movie night on Thursday May 23rd from 7-10pm.

Peace Sunday at Human Potential Center

PEACE SUNDAY. 1 - 3 pm. In an effort to improve the peaceful conditions in the world, we host a monthly quiet meditation, where all beliefs and religious traditions are honored. Following the meditation, participants are welcome to join in a potluck brunch and share camaraderie and croissants. Ages 14 and up. Free.

Slideluck Potshow

For three years Austin has been throwing an annual potluck to remember. On February 4th, the good people of Austin will cook up their favorite dishes and gather to share their recipes and photographs with each other once again!  The evening begins with a couple hours of mingling and dining on the home-cooked delights of those who attend, and then the lights are dimmed, the crowd is hushed, and a spectacular slideshow commences.

Bread for the Journey

A simple relationship-based philanthropy, Bread for the Journey gives small seed grants to people who are involved in positive change within the community. Referred to as "engaged spirituality" by its founder Wayne Mueller, it is a way to help those who help others.  Mueller, an ordained minister, therapist and author in New Mexico, started the first chapter with a small group of average citizens who felt called by their concern for their community.

Please bring a dish that serves approximately 6-8 people. As usual, we encourage you to bring your own plates, cups and utensils, but our hosts will provide as well. They will also provide water, soft drinks and wine to drink. There are no food or beverage restrictions.

Austin Progressive Potlucker Holiday Celebration

Join us for the annual Austin Progressive Potlucker holiday celebration! It's a great party that brings together Potluckers for a night of conversation, fun and food. Folks are welcome to stop in as they can during the evening, as we know this is a busy time of holiday parties. Selwyn Polit will be hosting us at his home and will plan to fire up his backyard sauna if the weather is nice and cool, so bring a towel if you want to partake. Also, you're encouraged to bring musical instruments.

Vegetarian Network of Austin

We're excited to join our hosts, the Vegetarian Network of Austin, at their October potluck event, a special potluck with a focus on vegetarian chili!  The Vegetarian Network of Austin (VNA) is committed to social change toward a vegetarian lifestyle which is free of animal products and animal testing in food, clothing, cosmetics, household products and other areas of consumption.

CHILI COOKOFF: This month we will vote as a group to decide who will represent the VNA at the Annual Lone Star vegetarian Chili cookoff. If you are interested in competing please bring your vegan chili for everyone to taste!
