Austin Progressive Potluckers: Texas Freedom Network

Potluck date:

Saturday, 24 April 2010 - 6:00pm to 8:30pm

Founded in 1995, the Texas Freedom Network is a nonpartisan, grassroots organization of more than 30,000 religious and community leaders. Based in Austin, the Texas Freedom Network acts as the state’s watchdog, monitoring far-right issues, organizations, money and leaders. The organization has been instrumental in defeating initiatives backed by the religious right in Texas, including private school vouchers, textbook censorship and faith-based deregulation.

Currently, TFN is the only watchdog group monitoring the State Board of Education and has been hard at work on the Social Studies curriculum debate. Learn more about the SBOE and other issues TFN works on at www.tfn.org or email Judie Niskala at [email protected].

PLEASE BRING a dish that serves 6-8 people. There are no food or beverage restrictions. Our hosts will provide plates, cups, utensils and water.
