| June 2003 UPCOMING
AUSTIN PROGRESSIVE POTLUCKERS EVENT The Summer Solstice is the longest day of the year and marks the beginning
of summer. Also known as "Midsummer" or "Litha", it
is the time of the year when the sun is at it's greatest distance from
the celestial equator, a time distinctive on an astrological level and
a time of year celebrated by many ancient civilizations with their unique
traditions to mark the summer season. The June potluck is a special one, as we've been invited to attend the Summer Solstice Celebration at the Scarlet Circle. This celebration is not sponsored by a formal organization, but instead is a group of friends that has been meeting and celebrating various occasions for a number of years. Sid DuBose, owner of the Scarlet Circle Ranch, is delighted to have the Austin Progressive Potluckers attend this special evening. Note: Bring a dish or drink to share that serves 6-8 hungry people. Also, please bring your own plates, utensils and cups. Driving directions to the ranch: At the 290/71 split at Oak Hill, go south on Highway 290 for about 3 miles until see a sign for Tara Lane. Take a left onto Tara Lane and drive about a quarter mile until you see a road on your left which will be Scarlet Circle. Turn left on Scarlet Circle and park on the side of the road. The ranch is a short walk from the end of the road. Our thanks to the folks at the Sunflower Co-Op for a great time in May.
We hope to see EVERYBODY at the June celebration for a great kickoff to
summer and another fun season of potlucking around Austin! |
