KAB School Garden Workday at Eastside Memorial

Thursday, March 10, 2011 - 4:30pm to 6:15pm
Volunteers needed to spruce up and overhaul Eastside Memorial High School’s courtyard garden. Individual volunteers and small groups welcome. Projects will include building a native plant bed (laying border, transporting soil, and mulching bed) and restoring existing vegetable beds (weeding, soil amendment, and planting seeds). KAB’s Green Teens program will be working with teachers and students to use the garden beds year round as an outdoor learning space – join us to kick start this effort. This project can accommodate up to 25 volunteers.
Green Teens is an after-school environmental education program of Keep Austin Beautiful. Green Teens has partnered with Eastside High School for three years to promote environmental stewardship.
Note: Bring water bottle and gardening gloves. All tools, sunscreen, water, and work gloves provided. Please meet Emily, KAB’s Environmental Educator at the school entrance; she will be wearing a green Team KAB t-shirt.
