JBG-SIGN UP FOR TOMATO U-PICK ON JUNE 8TH!

Saturday, June 15, 2013 - 8:30am to 11:00am

From the Farmer's Perspective

I just wanted to remind everyone that the Pick Your Own Tomatoes event is coming up soon on Saturday, June 8th from 8:30am to 11:30am at our River Road fields.  We've never had a pick your own event at River Road, so I am very excited that we are now able to do this.  I've asked our harvest crew to reserve a few beds for this event, so you will literally have the first pick of the crop off of these selected plants!  I hope that you will join us because harvesting your own vegetables truly is one of the best ways to understand where your food comes from; plus, it is a great way to meet other members of our wonderful farm community and to educate your kids about the origins of the vegetables on their plates.  What's even better - you get to go home with lots of just-picked organic tomatoes!  Here's more detailed information on the event as well as a link to reserve your spot now:

As I mentioned last week, we have been gearing up here at the Hergotz location for the summer's tomato harvest.  We've made progress on the new covered area for sorting tomatoes in the barn, but it is still under construction.  Until then, we've set up tents over our sorting tables so our crew and volunteers can get to work.  There's already a lot of tomatoes coming in, and this is just the beginning!
