Gathering of the Tribes, for Austin's Vegans/Vegetarians

Saturday, April 16, 2011 - 5:00pm to 8:00pm
Last year in October we had the first-ever Gathering of the Tribes, to bring together all the groups, organizations and members of Austin's vegan, vegetarian, and animal-advocacy community. Now we're having another one to celebrate Earth Day and the arrival of spring. On Saturday April 16th, at 5pm at Pease Park, we're having a huge vegan mega-potluck to celebrate Earth Day and enjoy the company of our friends in Austin's vegan, vegetarian and animal rights community. We'll have some fun activities and of course great food, so come join in with all your veggie friends! Please come at around 5pm with a vegan dish to feed at least 8 people, and a list of the ingredients in your dish. Also don't forget your beverages and eating utensils/plates. In October we had 121 people attend, and we're hoping to get close to that again this time. Obviously, with that many people, not everyone will get to taste every little thing at such a huge potluck! We'll start eating between 5:30 and 6pm, whenever everyone's gotten checked-in and we're ready. Anyone at all can attend, so please bring friends, especially veg-curious ones! This event will be a simpler, more casual, and less structured event than the first one in October. However, we'll still be doing the dish check-in at the beginning so we can help everyone who might have food allergies or other diet restrictions. The major Austin groups will all be there- Vegetarian Network of Austin, Vegans Rock Austin, Austin Progressive Vegetarians, Vegan Drinks Austin and Action for Animals Austin. Plus we're hoping we'll be joined by many of the local vegan business owners, restaurateurs, and entrepreneurs in Austin.
