Austin Kick-off Garden Workshop

Saturday, February 23, 2013 - 9:00am

Come be a part of an amazing multi-phase initiative to establish Austin’s first permanent Neighborhood Food Forest and Community Food Trail in Dove Springs (78744), a dynamic neighborhood in South East Austin.

The cornerstone teaching garden located at River City Youth Foundation is 3000+ square feet dedicated to fruit and nut trees, perennial herbs and vegetables, native and flowering plants and space for learning for all ages. The gardens will be created in one AMAZING day as a part of a larger UT service project called “Dove Springs into Action!” and is part of a larger neighborhood initiative called “GO! Austin/VAMOS! Austin.”

Instructors from across the city will be on hand to teach gardening techniques that help food gardens make it through our manic weather, and you’ll leave a legacy – the first bite of a trail of food that will keep on providing for generations to come without stressing our ecosystem.
