At the “Barton Springs Pool Spring Cleaning” event on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015, volunteers can clean Barton Springs by helping pull weeds, brush and clean the stair rails and sidewalls, pot plants (it’s not what it sounds like), till gardens, spread mulch, excavate rocks, shovel sediment, and move the debris to the compost area by rolling wheelbarrows outside the pool area. All this hard work helps contribute to the cleaning, well-being, and beautification of Barton Springs Pool.
We're at it again! This May 10-11th please join us at Eastside Memorial High School to help us teach the students there how to build a perennial food garden and learn how to do so yourself. This will be the first high school we have blitzed at and we are very excited about it!
Because of the hectic schedules of our organizers, we will be having a maintenance permablitz for April. This is necessary to check up on the gardens we have created and to add more cover crop seeds for the warm season.
Please come out to actively learn how to build a perennial food garden. This is a really excellent space to have a garden for many people to experience and learn from. Please come out and get your hands dirty!
The schedule of each blitz is generally as follows:
9am-9:45am - Introduction to the purpose of the Permablitz and description of the berm/swale system
Join Keep Austin Beautiful for the December Clean Lady Bird Lake event! Cleanups of the lake happen every other month throughout the year and offer a wide range of locations to clean. If you're looking to get out on the lake on a kayak or paddle board, sign up for one of our waterway cleanup sites! If you would like to bring your family or stay dry, sign up for a shoreline site!
