5:30pm Beat the Rush with Peter Stopschinski from Brown Whornet

Beat the Rush presents musical responses by small ensembles performing in the museum's galleries. Musicians discuss with the audience how the compositions that they've selected connect to the paintings, drawings, and sculptures on display. This fall, the series is curated by musician/composer Graham Reynolds.

Blanton Museum Perspectives Gallery Talk: Luminous

Attendance Records Album Release/Benefit

Join us for the release of the 2nd Attendance Records album, Caught in the Food Chain!

Attendance Records brings creativity back into public schools by connecting students and teachers with local artists, writers, and musicians. At the end of the program the 9th and 10th grade students have their poems, short stories, artwork, and lyrics published in an installation or recorded by a local band and pressed onto vinyl.

Blanton Museum Contemporary Artist Panel: Fascination with Realism

Three leading figures in contemporary art, Keith Edmier, Peter Rostovsky, and Isaac Layman, will discuss their diverse works included in the Blanton’s summer exhibition Lifelike,  in a conversation with the exhibition’s curator, Siri Engberg of the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, Minn. The panel will explore artists’ fascination with realism and the ways in which its been integrated into contemporary art from the 1960s to present.

Luminous celebrates some of the finest prints and drawings in the Blanton’s collection by artists such as Raphael, Rembrandt van Rijn, Edgar Degas, and Jasper Johns.

Blanton Screening: Le mystere Picasso

French director Henri-Georges Clouzot depicts Picasso applying paint to glass panes in this intriguing document of the creative process. The Blanton will display work by Picasso as part of the exhibition Through the Eyes of Texas. Running time: 78 minutes.
