Sat, 04/30/2016 - 2:00pm to 4:00pm

On Saturday, April 30th from 2-4 pm, the Guerrilla Gals will hold an event called KEEP AUSTIN CROSSING at the intersection of MLK and Chicon in East Austin. Keep Austin Crossing will be a celebration of pedestrians, with the main motivation of making our streets safer for ALL users. To accomplish this, the Guerrilla Gals plan to design, produce, and implement temporary "creative crosswalks" and bring in local musicians representing various styles to create a festive atmosphere for people crossing the street.

The Blanton’s Perspectives Lecture Series: Byron Kim

Artist Byron Kim discusses his practice and his work Synecdoche, which is included in the current exhibition, Come as You Are: Art of the 1990s. A skillful fusion of abstraction and representation in painting, Synecdoche is a potent statement about identity, a central theme in the exhibition. Arranged in a grid, these monochrome panels replicate the skin color of twenty individuals that Byron Kim encountered at random on The University of Texas at Austin campus. Hear more from the artist on this series and his other work during this can't-miss Perspectives talk.
