Making the leap to Windows 8

Well I've started using Windows 8.  My old laptop is creaking along and about to give up the ghost.  I've been using Windows 7 64-bit edition on it and it has been steady as a rock for quite some time now.  My desktop on the other hand is an MSI based AMD machine with Windows 7 32-bit on it.  It has been running fairly well but stutters a whole bunch.  8 Gigs of RAM doesn't seem to help this beast a bit.  I got a new hard drive (Seagate 1 Terrabyte 6 GB/second SATA) to see if that would help with the stuttering but it didn't.  So after transferring everything to the new drive, I decided it was time to try Windows 8 (64-bit - yeah!)

Well it's been a couple of days now and it seems very smooth.  All my software runs.  I do have to contend with the new User interface but it goes away pretty quickly after I press the Windows button on my keyboard.  Some new keystrokes are saving my bacon.  Win-Q brings up a search box where I can type things like excel or word to run them (or any program I need)  Win-F to find any file on my hard drive.  I preferred being able to hit the Windows key and just type a program name or file name but this isn't too bad.

Rock steady and pretty fast.  No stuttering so far. I seem to be able to function without a touch screen.
